A dedicated on-site Environment Management Consultancy (EMC) team

The protection of the environment is one of Roche Ireland’s highest priorities. The implementation of a robust management system is a key requirement to ensuring that this goal is achieved.

That is why, Verde, a dedicated Environmental Management Consultancy (EMC) team, was appointed at the beginning of this project and will remain on-site until the decommissioning is complete.

The role of this EMC team to ensure that environmental compliance is maintained in accordance with the requirements of the Industrial Emissions Licence (P0012-06), issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and associated legislation and regulations.

This duty in particular extends to ensuring that activities being undertaken by all stakeholders on-site adhere to all requirements laid down in the EPA licence and to the environmental conditions outlined in the planning permission issued by Clare County Council.  

Compliance with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is the standard that is used to manage day-to-day activities.

In 2020, Roche Clarecastle was awarded ISO 14001:2015 accreditation for its Environmental Management System (EMS) for the demolition and remediation project, certified by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

At the core of our Environmental Management System, stands our Site Environmental Policy, which outlines our responsibilities and commitments for ensuring that all activities conducted onsite, throughout the lifetime of the project, are carried out to the highest possible standard and provide assurance to all stakeholders that the project will have no adverse impact on the environment or the community.
